Jena Tyler - Teacher and Principal at Sylvan School of Dance

Jena Tyler  LRAD AISTD

I started dancing at the age of 3 as I was ‘clumsy’ and quickly decided that dance was my favourite pastime.  I attended Thornden School and Barton Peveril College whilst training at a local dance school where I loved performing in dance festivals and school shows.  I then spent three years studying at the Royal Academy of Dance in London gaining a First Class honours degree in the Art and Teaching of Ballet and my teaching qualifications from the RAD and ISTD.

I have now been teaching for over 15 years and take great pride in providing quality dance education to the young people in my care.

Jennifer Kennett

I started dancing at the age of 3 at my local dancing school and very quickly realised I had a passion for dancing.  At 16 I furthered my dance training at English National Ballet School and Central School of Ballet in London.

After graduating I spent many years touring Europe in several shows including ‘Elvis the Musical’ and ‘Fame’.  Eventually I decided I wanted a more settled lifestyle and began teaching at several different dance schools in the area.  I love teaching and passing on my passion for ballet to the next generation.

Lucy Creighton

I began dancing at a young age at my mother’s dance school and enjoyed all aspects of dance but my passion has always been tap. I have now been teaching for 18 years at a number of local dance schools and Southampton University.  My teaching has also enabled me to pursue my love of choreography.  I have had the privilege of choreographing several award-winning numbers as well as school shows and university events.

Emma Lyford

"Emma started dancing at the age of 6 in Portsmouth and quickly went on to attend lessons in all genres from Tap, Modern and Ballet through to Rock n Roll, Jazz, Latin American and Disco. After senior school went on to train professionally to become a teacher at Southampton's 'Roynon Dance Centre' where she left as a fully qualified dance teacher in many styles for all ages and grades under the ISTD board. Emma has been teaching all over the UK for the past 7 years and also still performs professionally. With the southern based entertainment company Manic Stage Productions, Emma has performed at many high profile events, corporate occasions and theatres and loves entertaining and being on stage. She is also a sky high stilt walker and one of her hidden talents and favourites is to perform as a flaming fire dancer."
